We’d like to thank Kim Childress and the Mach Tenn Running Club (MTRC) for donating to the Coffee County Children’s Advocacy Center.

“The Mach Tenn Running Club (MTRC) has been very blessed with the continued success of the Oak Barrel Half Marathon,” said Kim Childress, past president of the running club. “The MTRC focuses on donating proceeds from the half marathon to various local community organizations.”

Due to the pandemic, the last 16 months have been extremely difficult for organizations to host fundraising events, said Childress.

“We know that the Coffee County Children’s Advocacy Center will use the donation to give those a voice that may not necessarily know how to use their voice,” Childress said. “It is the hope of the MTRC that one day the services the advocacy center provides will no longer be needed.”

Oak Barrel Half Marathon is organized by MTRC. The running club has been around since the early 1980s. The race committee is an all-volunteer group of about 20 runners who work on the race all year long, according to www.oakbarrelhalf.com.

“On behalf of the Coffee County Children’s Advocacy Center, I’d like to thank Kim and the Mach Tenn Running Club for the gift,” said Executive Director of Coffee County CAC Joyce Prusak. “We are so grateful for the support. This gift will help our efforts to ensure every child enjoys a happy, safe and healthy childhood.”
